Answer Me This: I'll Procrastinate Later

I'm writing this post about procrastination ahead of time, because we are headed east to the mid-west on our annual summer trip to visit our Southside Irish relations. I hope the space time continuum will be okay.

We have a winner of the Monastic Immersion Weekend Giveaway! Thank you all so much for your prayers. Keep 'em coming. And the winner is . . . Kelly M! If that's you, please email me by Monday at 10pm Pacific.

1. What’s something you intended to do today, but didn't?
My problem for each day of the past two weeks has been intending to accomplish much more than is humanly (or robotly) possible in a day. We only had a couple of weeks between our France trip and our Chicago trip, and I planned to create a 72 page yearbook for our homeschool group, plan and order our curriculum for next year, research and schedule our homeschool group Monday enrichment activities, throw a 12th birthday party, pack, write many blog posts, see all our friends before we go, finish Season 7 of Foyle's War before my free preview of Acorn TV expires, and maybe do some canning.

The birthday party was last weekend. And I'm nearly finished packing. (Also, I've looked after the children.)

But, I pretty much intended to get all the rest of that done today, as I intended yesterday, and the day before. Even though it keeps not happening. I really do hate procrastinating. I would always rather do something right that second. Even if it's totally unreasonable to think that I could.

Update: I finished the yearbook, whew! And the packing. But thank God for the internet, because I guess I'm ordering curriculum from Chicago this summer.

2. What's your favorite grilling recipe?
After what I said about mayonnaise last week, I almost came up with another recipe. But, really, this one is my favorite thing on the grill. And it's significantly mayo. Go figure.

1/2 cup mayonnaise
5 ears corn, husk and silk removed
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil grate.
2. Brush a thin layer of mayonnaise on each ear of corn. Sprinkle the corn with the Parmesan cheese, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Wrap each ear with aluminum foil and place on the grill.
3. Grill, turning occasionally, until the kernels begin to brown, about 10 minutes.
It's easy, if a bit messy, and my kids love it too.

3. What movie did you see most recently?
Speaking of procrastination, I intended to watch these movies and review them on the blog. But . . . I haven't had time to get to them yet!

So, here are some movies I'm planning to watch, that I have high hopes for, but haven't quite seen yet:

The movie I actually saw most recently was God's Not Dead. I found it to be . . . unsubtle, and have doubts about its ability to be an effective tool for evangelization.

4. Would you say your tendency is to over or under react to medical situations?
Under react for sure. I'm just always, generally, pretty sure it's going to be fine. Whatever IT is. And so far it always has been. But my poor husband must live in fear that he's going to come home one day and find me unconscious, having assured the kids I was fine and to not call 911 and disturb the whole neighborhood.

Same goes for the kiddos, I always try to take care of it at home. But sometimes that's not possible. I think we've been to the ER five times since Jack was born: three sets of stitches, one dislocated elbow (but we learned from YouTube that all you have to do for that is bend their arm up and it pops back in!), and one swallowed magnet, that MIGHT have been two swallowed magnets, so we had to get an X-ray to make sure.

5. Do you squeeze the toothpaste tube or roll it?
I use prescription toothpaste.

Saying that always makes me think of this guy:

It comes in tiny tubes that are not really rollable.

But . . . I'd squeeze either way.

6. What are you doing for Father's Day?
We had a Father's Day celebration with MY dad, who is six kinds of awesome, last weekend, and then our family celebration with Jim this week, because we watch Pinocchio every Father's Day, and then we head for Chicago to see Papa just in time for actual Father's Day. The dads and big kids will be taking in the Sox game. The moms and little kids will be taking a nap.

For next week I'm tagging:

Natalie from Here I Am. Post to check out: Sleeping With Men

Madeline from A Dash of Snark. Post to check out: The Death of Barnes and Noble

Next week's questions for them and for you are . . .

1. When's the last time you got a new bathing suit?

2. Who made the last incoming call on your phone?

3. If you receive communion, do you receive it in the hands or on the tongue?

4. Do you have a tattoo?

5. How many dinner plates are in your house?

6. Do you have an accent?

Next week's installment will go live at 10pm Pacific Saturday night, and will be open until 10pm Wednesday night.

So, please, answer this week's questions for yourself in the comments. If you have a blog, answer the questions there, link back to this post, and link your blog post up below. Thanks for playing along.
