Here are THIS WEEK's questions:
1. What's for dinner?
Dinner Saturday was leftover Tea Sandwiches after our annual Little Flowers Mother's Day Tea! How I love this club. It is the sweetest. thing. ever.
We leave town Monday, so all the leftovers need to get eaten up, but . . . since it's Mother's Day, we'll probably get takeout Thai food!
2. What's the last thing you borrowed from someone?
Our homeschool group is great about lending baby stuff around, which is really nice. I borrowed a swing for Lulu from my friend Abby. But then she had a baby, so I got myself the same one from Craigslist. And I borrowed a Moby Wrap from Micaela, but I think she must be a Jedi or something, because I never could operate it correctly. Plus now she's having a baby too, so I'm giving it back. I'm going to stick with the Ergo.
3. What is your favorite prayer?
I think the Morning Offering is probably the most important prayer that I say each day, and it's the one I'm very, very consistent about doing.
But for sheer old-school awesomeness, I'm going to have to go with the St. Michael Prayer.
4. What is the oldest thing in your house?
I like old stuff. I have one grandmother's serving pieces, and another grandmother's dishes. I have a grandfather clock built by my grandfather. I have a pocket-watch that belonged to my grandmother's father (who was named Jack, but I didn't find that out until we'd already started calling our oldest Jack!). I think MY oldest thing is a ring that my mom passed along to me on my high school graduation day that first belonged to my grandmother's grandmother.
But I think the oldest thing is the house is a seventeenth century coin that a family friend gave to Jack.
5. What's the best concert you ever attended?
I have not been to very many concerts in my life. In high school I went to see Amy Grant. In college I saw They Might Be Giants twice and The Cranberries and Dave Matthews Band once. My sister took me to see Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
Recently, I've seen the Head and the Heart, and the Hope and Justin Band. Both were really, really great.
But the best concert I ever saw was The Chieftains. The husband and I saw them live in a small venue when he was in graduate school and there was singing and dancing and carrying on, there were fiddles and uilleann pipes. They just had so much love for their music. It was breathtaking. It was really, really somethin.'
6. Do you have a nickname?
I do not, and never have. In the fourth grade I tried to get people to call me Kenny, and have been forever grateful that it didn't catch on.
My dad didn't like the idea of nicknames and purposefully gave my sister and me names that weren't easily shortened. Six out of seven of my own kids go by nicknames.
