Here's interview number three: my eldest daughter, Betty.
Please state your name and age.
My name is Betty and I'm ten.
For whom are you named?
For St. Elizabeth of Hungary and my great grandmother.
What do you think of having so many brothers?
Sometimes they can be fun and sometimes they're really annoying. I like playing tag with them. Sometimes they tease me. Sometimes brothers can be inappropriate. But, I don't want to say that. They ARE. But I don't want to say it.
You also have sisters.
I like THEM a lot. Anita and I like to play dress up and tea party. I really, really like watching baby Lulu. I'd keep her with me all day if I could.
You were there when she was born.
Yes. I'm glad I was there, but I don't think I'd like to do it again.
Do you play sports?
Yes. I play soccer, basketball, and softball. Softball is my favorite. I also like singing. I know that's not a sport. But I also like it.
How do you feel about fashion?
I really like it. I like that I get to pick out my own clothes now.
What is your favorite subject in school?
History, because I get to read a lot of books.
What are your favorite books?
A Little Princess, The Hundred Dresses, The Best Loved Doll, and the Mysterious Benedict Society. This summer I get to start reading Harry Potter, because this is the summer I'm ten, so I get to start reading them.
What's your least favorite subject in school.
Math. I just keep doing it, but I'm not very good at it.
Do you like to cook?
Yes! I know how to make macaroni and cheese, rice crispy treats, and pizza if you make the dough. And the sauce. I can also make scrambled eggs, and toast, and cake.
Do you think you'd ever write a blog?
If I got married and had a family maybe I'd write a blog about my family and all our family trips.
What do you like best about traveling?
I like that I get to learn about new things and see special and historical places. Going to see religious sites is my favorite. I really liked seeing St. Peter's Basilica. It's built on top of St. Peter's bones and Pope Francis lives next door. I like all the places we've been, but that was my favorite.
You babysit for your siblings sometimes. Do you have any childcare tips to share?
Sometimes they don't listen to me, but I just try my best. Sometimes they're good. Talking in a strong voice works pretty well. Sometimes it's good to just let them watch TV.
Do you think it's hard for homeschooled kids to make friends?
Nope. I have ten best friends. I know them from our homeschool parkday and church and now most all of them are in Little Flowers with me. I think I have a lot of friends.
Even more friends than brothers.
Yep.
