Christmas Novena Printable Booklet {Digital Download}

This Christmas Novena has been a part of our family's preparation for Christmas for over a decade now. We have a lot of liturgical living traditions in our home, but if I had to choose just one, I would say that this Novena has been the most meaningful of them all.

It includes beautiful prayers, Old and New Testament scripture readings, and an Advent hymn sing along with the traditional O Antiphons. It takes 15 or 20 minutes to finish, depending on the length of the readings.

This Novena is traditionally said from December 16-24. In our family, we usually start it a day early, because we often have had friends and neighbors join us, who have other obligations on Christmas Eve. And even on years when it's just been our family, it's nice to have an extra day, in case something comes up and we miss one.

Ideally, we start the prayers after dinner, with the house tidied and the kids in their jammies. We'll say the Novena prayers, then read a story from our Advent/Christmas book stack, and have a little bedtime snack.

Non-ideally, we've sometimes done it at breakfast, in the car, over Facetime, in a not tidy house, and with a toddler sitting on a potty.

However we can make it happen, these nine days of prayer together really deepen Advent for us and help us to keep our focus where it belongs in the fun, crazy, beautiful days before Christmas.
