These beautiful pendants are made by a Virginia artist, Raphael. She creates them from vintage holy cards!
The loving gaze shared by Jesus and Mary in this bracelet not only illustrates the loving mother/child relationship of Christ’s infancy, but also foretells their union of hearts as described by St. Alphonsus in his prayer for the 4th Station of the Cross: “Jesus and Mary gazed at each other and their looks became as so many arrows to wound those hearts which loved each other so tenderly.” Mary’s fiat embraced all the joys and sorrows of her miraculous motherhood. The original image is sourced from a 19th-century holy card of the Nativity printed at Maison Bouasse-Lebel, a woman-owned printing house in Paris.
