The entire text of the Salve Regina, in Latin, frames the image and reads from outer bottom left, to top, down to bottom right and continues on the inner margin, bottom left, to top, down to bottom right.
The final lines of the prayer are at the base. At the very bottom, in large letters, are the words: “Ora pro nobis sancta Dei Genetrix”---Pray for us, most holy Mother of God.
