The Seven Sundays of Saint Joseph is a devotion that dates back to the seventeenth century, when tradition holds that Saint Joseph appeared to two shipwrecked monks and advised them to pray seven Our Fathers and Hail Marys in honor of his sorrows.
The devotion begins seven Sundays before the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, on March 19. That means the first Sunday falls at the end of January or the beginning of February, and the Sundays continue into March.
