St. Mary Magdalene Red Egg Dying Kit

Have you heard the story of Mary Magdalene and the red egg?

Long story short, she took an egg with her on a visit to the Emperor as a symbol for sharing about the resurrection of Jesus. The Emperor, in an effort to dismiss her, tells her that Jesus no more rose from the dead than that the egg she was holding was red. Then the egg turned red!

While this kit won’t dye eggs in the same way that Mary Magdalene’s egg changed color, the process of using plants to dye something can feel quite miraculous! (Especially if you’ve only ever used to drops or tablets.)

This kit includes the materials to dye real eggs (not included) as well as the wooden eggs that are included in the kit: instructions, onion skin flakes, two wooden eggs, 2 egg cups, egg tattoos, and a champion button for an egg tapping battle with your hard-boiled eggs.

How to have an Egg Tapping Battle with hard-boiled eggs:

Each participant chooses an egg and a partner with whom to face off. Tappers hold the egg in the center and, on the count of three, tap one end of their eggs together. The unbroken egg is the winner. Participants continue to battle until one person is left with (at least) one unbroken end. That person is the winner and gets bragging rights and the button!
