Sandalwood, vetiver, white musk, rosemary, mint, sage, and ginger, as well as essential oils of eucalyptus, patchouli, and ylang ylang.

Memento Mori means “Remember your death.” Lent is a time to re-orient our lives toward Heaven by practicing prayer, fasting and almsgiving. This candle features top notes of sandalwood, which was used by Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimethea to bury Jesus. (Interesting fact: Experts estimate that in today’s market sandalwood and myrrh used in Jesus’ burial would have cost $200,000.) Refreshing and uplifting scents of mint, eucalyptus and ginger are an awakening reminder to return to your prayer resolutions and pursue holiness intentionally in Lent. Evocative rosemary, vetiver, sage and white musk finish off this nostalgic scent.

As you burn Memento Mori, cross off a number on the label each day either as a personal or a family countdown to Easter. (Remember: Sundays aren’t included in the 40 days of Lent!)

Memento Mori is a hand-crafted candle that uses only natural ingredients: pure beeswax, essential oils, and plant aromatic components. It features a premium crackling wooden wick. Beeswax candles are used in Catholic liturgies and are deeply symbolic: Beeswax symbolizes the pure flesh Christ received from his Virgin Mother, the wick symbolizes his soul, and the flame his divinity. Beeswax burns brighter and longer than any other wax and purifies the air as it burns by releasing negative ions that neutralize toxins, dust, mold, odor and pollen. Burn time for each 8 oz candle is 40+ hours.

Ideal for:

  • Personal or family daily prayer time in Lent
  • Friend-to-friend gift
  • Preparation for candidates or catechumen preparing to enter the Church or receive sacraments at Easter
