Before the consecration at every mass, we are invited by the priest to “Lift up your hearts.” Deuteronomy describes the fig trees and honey flowing in the Promised Land: “A land where you will eat food without scarcity, where you will not lack for anything” (Deut 8:8-10). Fig trees are interwoven throughout the Bible, serving shade and sustenance to God’s chosen people. The rich sweetness of fig and honey’s scents invite us to lift up our hearts daily in hope and remembrance of our promised heavenly inheritance. Ginger, vanilla, and nutmeg, as well as sugar, were historically affordable only to the very wealthy. They remind us of the abundance Our Lord provides when we raise our hearts to him.
Sursum Corda is hand-crafted with pure natural beeswax and phthalate-free fragrance. It features a premium crackling wooden wick. Not only do beeswax candles burn longer and brighter than any other wax, but they also purify the air as they burn, releasing negative ions that neutralize toxins, dust, mold, odor and pollen. Burn time for each 8 oz candle is 40+ hours.
